Strengthening Fundamental Rights Sector Coordination

Brief Description of the Project and Main Objectives

The aim of the project is to strengthen institutional coordination and cooperation among stakeholders in the field of fundamental rights.

Achieved Results / Expected Outputs

  • Establishing and ensuring well-functioning of the Fundamental Rights Sector Coordination Platform
  • Improving the capacity of the Lead Institution and members of the Fundamental Rights Sector Coordination Platform on fundamental rights
  • Raising awareness among stakeholders and the public on fundamental rights

The project was carried out with an original and sustainable plan, within the framework of 3 components, in close cooperation with all relevant stakeholders working in the field of fundamental rights in Türkiye. While the project ensured the development of a common understanding in ten thematic areas related to fundamental rights, it also encouraged effective coordination and cooperation in the field of fundamental rights and contributed to the capacity building of stakeholders.

Within the scope of the project, a sector coordination platform was established, the capacities of institutions in the field of fundamental rights were further improved in terms of the EU Acquis and international standards, trainings were organized for law enforcement forces on fundamental rights. Studies were also carried out to develop and strengthen cooperation with the EU agencies in the field of fundamental rights as well.

In addition, with the project, following the earthquakes occured in 2023, activities were carried out on disaster management and disaster risk reduction responsive to fundamental rights and equality between men and women. In that regard, guidelines were developed, awareness raising seminars and trainings were organized.
