We are proud of the successful completion of another project implemented under the IPA Fundamental Rights Sub-Field! The closing conference of the EU-Council of Europe Joint Project (İHEM) on Strengthening the Capacity of Bar Associations and Lawyers on European Human Rights Standards, of which the Union of Turkish Bar Associations is the main beneficiary, was held in Istanbul on 23 June 2022.
The achievements within the scope of the project:
- Strengthening the institutional capacity of the Human Rights Centres of Bar Associations in 7 pilot provinces
- Enhancing the capacity of lawyers to apply European human rights standards in their daily work
- Translation and adaptation of HELP courses into Turkish
- Study visits and placements to international organisations such as the Council of Europe and the ECtHR
- Training of trainers
- organisation of awareness raising meetings
- Development of an e-library with more than 1000 documents
- Development of an IT tool called IHMnet to enhance communication between lawyers and bar associations and to collect effective data.
