In the training held on 17-18 November 2022 for our public institutions active in the fields of freedom of expression and information, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ulaş Karan elaborated on the EU Acquis in these areas, while Elena Cherniavska and Antonina Cherevko from the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media discussed media freedom and hate speech.
Moreover, the participants found the opportunity to discuss the relevant EU strategy and policy documents on the freedom of expression, information and press, the ECHR case-law as well as the works and documents of international organizations such as the Council of Europe and the United Nations. The trainers also provided important information on the EU acquis in this area and the practices of the Member States.
As part of the training, Elena Cherniavska and Antonina Cherevko made a detailed presentation online for the participants on the duties of the OSCE and the scope of media freedom and hate speech.
The Second Stage of Freedom of Expression and Information Training was held on 13-14 December 2022. During the training, the participants worked on developing ideas suitable for IPA projects while gaining experience on design and writing methods.
