The opening ceremony of the project titled “Restoring and Strengthening the Preventive and Protective Services in Response to Violence Against Women Affected by the Earthquakes in Türkiye”, which is being implemented to improve the protection of the rights of women and girls in the regions affected by the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, was held in Ankara on 18 June 2025 with the participation of Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs, Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay.
With a budget of 18.5 million euros and an implementation period of 3 years, the project aims to improve women’s and girls’ access to quality social services, provide access to employment opportunities, and strengthen the capacities of professionals involved in service delivery.
The project also foresees the construction of 4 new women’s shelters, physical reinforcement of existing shelters, and provision of furnishings and equipment.
