Restoring and Strengthening the Preventive and Protective Services in Response to Violence Against Women Affected by the Earthquakes in Türkiye

Brief Description of the Project and Main Objectives

The objective of the project is to promote the protection of the rights of women and girls in regions of Türkiye affected by the earthquake.

Achieved Results / Expected Outputs

  • Reconstruction of 4 women’s shelters in provinces affected by the earthquake and receiving migration, in line with national and international standards and best practices, to support victims of violence and their accompanying children.

  • Furnishing and strengthening the buildings of women’s shelters and Violence Prevention and Monitoring Centers (VPMCs/ŞÖNİM) in provinces affected by the earthquake and receiving migration, for victims of violence, those at risk of violence, and their accompanying children.

  • Enhancing the technical knowledge and skills of public personnel, particularly from the Ministry of Family and Social Services’ provincial organizations and law enforcement agencies, who provide and coordinate violence prevention and protection services.

  • Increasing access to opportunities that support the socio-economic empowerment and well-being of victims, including the period after they leave the shelters.
