Signing Ceremony for Support Projects Aimed at Protecting Women and Children from the Impacts of Earthquakes

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director for EU Affairs, Ambassador Mehmet Kemal Bozay, attended the signing ceremony held in Ankara on February 24, 2025, for two EU-funded projects launched in response to the 2023 Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes:

  • ” Improving the Lives of Children through Enhancing Responsive Child Protection Services and Support in Emergencies”

  • “Restoring and Strengthening the Preventive and Protective Services in Response to Violence Against Women and Girls Affected by the Earthquakes in Türkiye”

Funded under the IPA Fundamental Rights Sector, the two projects have a combined budget of €28 million and are being implemented by the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Union of Turkish Bar Associations. These projects aim to strengthen the capacity of social services provided to women and children in the earthquake-affected regions as well as in provinces that have received migration flows in the aftermath of the disaster.
