Trainings to enhance the capacities of law enforcement officers in the field of fundamental rights continued in Kars on 2-3 October. During the training, held with the participation of representatives of the Turkish National Police and Gendarmerie General Command from the provinces of Kars, Erzurum, Ardahan, Ağrı and Iğdır, law enforcement forces were informed about the IPA II Projects as well as the EU acquis, international standards and practices in the field of promotion and protection of fundamental rights in the EU accession process.
The training also addressed the issues of combating violence against women and domestic abuse, freedom of assembly and association, prevention of torture and ill-treatment, and information on the duties, powers and practices of law enforcement officers on the relevant issues were shared. A total of 50 representatives, 11 women and 39 men, attended the training.
